Tools to Support Reading & Math

The Hub’s tools are based on the same Lexile (reading) and the Quantile (math) frameworks education leaders have relied on for over thirty years. The Lexile and Quantile scales are at the core of all we do. They accurately and independently describe the relationship between a learner’s ability and the difficulty of the content they encounter.

The Lexile scale balances a learner’s comprehension against a text’s difficulty. And the Quantile scale balances a learner’s readiness to learn against skills and concepts. With these scales, we can predict how well a learner will engage with content at any level.

Lexile Reading Tools

Lexile measures provide a scientific approach for matching students with ability-appropriate text and audio resources. Lexile measures help differentiate instruction and monitor growth in reading and listening, putting students on the path to success in school, college and careers.

Text Anlayzer

PREMIUM

FOR EDUCATORS

Use Text Analyzer to understand the complexity of a text and ensure it’s suitability for an individual student or a particular set of students.

  • Analyze text in English and Spanish
  • See a text’s Lexile range and words identified as being consequential to comprehension
  • Get book recommendations from Find a Book within the same complexity range
  • See history of previously analyzed texts

Early Reading Tool

Lexile text measures provide valuable information about a text’s complexity and are recognized as the standard for individually matching readers with texts. Thanks to extensive research, Lexile measures are now more precise for content used in K-2 classrooms and provide readers with a superior match to texts.

How do I use Lexile and Quantile measures?

You are likely familiar with tests that report Lexile and Quantile learner measures alongside their own scores. And you’ve probably encountered publishers’ materials that have content difficulty measures.

These testing organizations and publishers use our measures because they are useful beyond the testing day and outside a publisher’s own leveling system. In fact, any linked test can report learner measures. And any publisher may use content measures to communicate their materials’ difficulty.

In addition to our measures, data in areas from vocabulary to math skills and concepts are offered for truly targeted instruction.

In The Classroom

Confidently meet students where they are on their academic journey with the Hub’s research-backed tools. Put learner measures in perspective with tools that deliver up-to-date national K12 data.
